I would suggest getting a Rough
Guide for any trip you're planning. They provide fantastic
information, including prices and hours for all of the different sites you might
like to see. And they list nearby lodging and restaurants. They will save you
a ton of time searching for directions, as well. There are Rough Guides
for practically anyplace you'd like to visit.
The

Bed & Breakfasts
This B&B guide is a
wonderful help. There are some great B&B's not in the book as well,
but if you can't find what you need in the book, many of the proprietors
are happy to give you information about their neighbors.

The Eyewitness Travel
Guides are particularly good, as they recommend walking tours to help you
see as much as possible. In addition, they give time estimates for the
tours, which is a great help. I have already purchased some for the next
trip I'm planning.
